Composite Services

MCT Engineering has been producing various composite components for many years. The workmanship and resulting parts are of the highest quality, which is confirmed by our category "A" supplier status for those customers that issue accreditation. The components that we currently produce are extremely varied, in terms of complexity, production techniques and qualities.

CNC Pattern Cutter - MCT is able to take a CAD/CAM file or digitised pattern, and CNC profile each required ply of material. Overlaps, orientation and the ability to nest (arrange) patterns, ensures the most efficient use of raw material. The machine is accurate to 0.1mm and a conveyor system can be used if required. This machines design means that complicated or production work is cost effectively produced.

MCT has a compact fully equipped composite facility, including two Autoclaves and one oven, ensuring that curing capacity is never an issue. All processes are recorded during manufacture, and specific customer requirements will be integrated where necessary.

There are a range of techinques and methods that can be used to manufacture composite components, depending on the individual requirements of each job. In addition to normal Autoclave vacuum forming, we use Mechanical Silicon pressure and thermal expansion forming. All types of intensifiers are regularly used including, solid, semi-solid and expanding, together with porous, foaming and soluble cores.

In addition to the normal requirements for a typical composite company, MCT can also offer full 3D 4 axis CNC Milling capacity, for both Mould and Tooling production and final Machining of components. MCT is able to receive E-Mailed drawings or information, which can be imported directly into our CAD/CAM system, which in turn controls the Matsuura Machining centre.

A range of Moulds and Tooling are used in a variety of materials. QC7 Aluminium tooling is the most common type of mould especially for smaller parts.

Carbon tooling is also widely utilised together with high temperature Crystic moulds for more cost sensitive products. MCT has a varied customer base, ranging from Formula 1, Sports Cars, Grand Prix motorcycles through to Printing, Medical and production Cars and Bikes.

All components are indiviually inspected before they are despatched to our customers. We are able to produce single prototypes or handle regular weekly or monthly batches.

MCT has achieved the highest Accreditiation from all of its customers, for both the service and quality of the parts it produces.

Fabrication Service

MCT's Engineering's fabrication department specialises in the manufacture of complex precision components. Our highly experienced and skilled staff are used to working with a wide range of materials and production processes. MCT undertakes both prototype and production batch work.

MCT's fabrication facility, primarily using TIG welding although full MIG Facilities are also available. The department is fully equipped with all the necessary resources to ensure a complete "in-house" service, including folding, rolling, cutting and pressing. Our skilled staff are experienced in using a wide range of materials such as, Titanium, Aluminium, Magnesium and Stainless Steel. We specialise in the fabrication and welding of complex thin gauge components.

MCT works closely with the top suppliers to ensure the highest quality parts. We are able to organise any heat treatments or surface finishing together with grinding, honing, spark or wire eroding and shot penning.

MCT also has its own machine shop that enables us to manufacture our own jigs, fixtures and tooling, together with the ability to pre and final machine parts. MCT has internal Turning and Milling capacity, as well as a Matsuura 4 axis CNC machining centre. We are also able to receive CAD/CAM drawings via "E-mail", and import them directly into our CAD/CAM system.

MCT has manufactured parts as varied as Aerospace Heat Shields,
to a complete Le Mans Sports Car.
